The Roland Garros

This year's Roland Garros tournament (AKA The French Open) has had it's ups and downs. So at the 'Half-way' point, i'm going to say what my highlights are and also the not-so-great parts.

1. The Underdogs

There have been many 'underdog' stories over the years in tennis, and this year particularly has included many, including Kohlschreiber's victory over Novak Djokovic in the third round and in the women's draw, a particular woman being knocked out, whom i shall discuss later on in the downsides section, however the biggest shock of the tournament so far has come today, when 23rd seed Robin Soderling beat the favourite for the tournament, Rafael Nadal, the defending champion who has not lost a match at the competition ever. This story is truly surprising as no-one expected Soderling to win today, everyone just thought that Nadal would breeze through and win the tournament. What a shame eh? This has left the tournament wide open.

2. Amazing Rallies

One particular point caught has caught my attention, which occurred in the match between Gael Monfils and Jurgen Melzer. Just check it out and see for yourself. It's the middle point btw.

3. Maria

This lovely woman has been praised for her amazing tennis ability throughout her career as a tennis player and that is the sole reason why she is one of my favourite
players :)This tournament has been particularly good for her as it is only her second one after returning from a horrific injury, meaning that she has been absent for the majority of the past year.

Bad times

However this tournament she has managed to find a way into the quarter-finals.
This is an amazing feat, as she has had few matches to practice for it, and she has never won the frenchopen before, the only grand slam to evade her collection of wins. So she is my hope for the title :)

A lovely unposed picture of her mid-game... :)

Now for the negatives :(

1. Caroline :(

The obvious favourite in everyones eyes this year for the French open, and indeed every tournament that she enters, is (or was) Caroline Wozniacki. The world number 10 was knocked out disastrously this year in the third round. :( I cannot truly express my feelings about this.
She'll bounce back for wimbledon and win that. Easy.

I think that it's enough of a negative to cover the whole section to be brutally honest.

Very bad times indeed.

Meh.

'Lyrical Madness'

Why do you like certain types of music?

Rhythm?
Pace?
The voice?
The lyrics?!?

Some songs I love because of the lyrics, they evoke so much emotion and can make you consider a song to be amazing.

So, here are 10 lines from some of my favourites and you have to guess what the songs are...
Vale?

Ok Number 1:
"All the time I've spent alone now, won't comfort me."

2.
"You made yourself look bad at the bottom of the blackest hole and convinced yourself that it's not the reason you don't see the sun any more."

3.
"When I'm gone, you'll need love, to light the shadows on your face."

4.
"Will you be the same as when I saw you last? Tell me how much time has past."

5.
"It started off with a kiss, how did it end up like this?"

6.
"Lost faith in everything, I'm lost, so lost, I'm lost without you."

7.
"Here comes the rain again, falling from the stars, drenched in my pain again, becoming who we are."

8.
"Sometimes I wish I could save you, and there's so many things I want you to know."

9.
"Names on her sidewalks, they move through her body, like razors they cut through her heart."

10. (The song with the best lyrics ever btw)
"What would you think of me now, so lucky, so strong, so proud. I never said thank you for that. And now I'll never have a chance."

So yeah, try and guess the songs and artists, and if you want, give them a listen, because they are beautiful init.
